RetrospectiveGroundRules

PPffffft!

De rules always change of course, dependent on changing needs and desires. You can expect better listening from a group of people awarely striving for a steering or anticipating culture by making themselves more effective at whatever it is they wish to apply that to, than from a small pack of heroes in variable cultures that solve problems by finding who is to blame as soon as possible.

This is a prototype set of ground rules - the one to throw away (Mythical Man Month), adopted and adapted from "The Ritual of Retrospectives" by Norm Kerth (http://www.retroasis.it/wiki/index.php/NormKerth):

  1. Entitle everyone to have his or her opinion - even if it is different from yours, and even when they are "wrong".
  1. Do not interrupt. You shall listen until the current speaker is done talking, before even thinking about a response. Even if that would create moments of silence. Silence isn't that awful ...
  1. Finish your sentences.
  1. Do not express humor at the expense of anyone else in this room.
  1. Keep confidential what is being said and depicted in this retrospective unless all stakeholders agree otherwise. It is up to companies or groups themselves to decide (and how they get there) on what is public or not.
Verander mij, bespreek mij .../Change me, discuss me ...

At the group focus meeting it seemed like we moved to dismiss this rule for this particular retrospective. If not, please let me know and I will remove the link from Retroasis News Letter. NynkeFokma
